LGBTQIA Ally Training
We are very excited to be offering a newly revised portfolio of trainings for those who are interested in learning about lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual identities as well as information about taking action to create more inclusive and equitable environments on our campus and beyond.
We have incorporated participant and community feedback from previous year's "Safe Zone" programs as well as learning-outcome evaluation data to develop the following allyship trainings:
Foundations in LGBTQIA Allyship
Duration: 2.5 hours
This training covers foundational information about sex, gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation in a socio-historical context. Participants have the opportunity to examine their knowledge and beliefs and begin the process of critiquing paradigms and systems that are harmful to LGBTQIA people.
Ally as a Verb: Deepening LGBTQIA Allyship (Beginning in Spring 2017)
Duration: 3 hours
Pre-requisite: Foundations in LGBTQIA Allyship
This highly-interactive workshop allows participants to continue their learning process around cis-sexism, allosexism, and heterosexism and develop skills for challenging these systems of oppression.
