Bio

Joel is a queer/genderqueer latinx scholar studying American Studies and Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies. Now in their third year, Joel is excited to become more outspoken and committed within the LGBTQIA+ community, both on campus and in as many places as possible. Joel currently facilitates an LGBTQIA+ youth group for local middle and high school students; a possible long-term goal of his is to bring awareness to the issues faced by LGBTQIA+ youth who are abused at home, homeless, or placed in the foster system, and provide justice and representation for them. In their free time, Joel loves to spend hours doing nail art, play Pokemon, and repeatedly watch his favorite show, Charmed.
